Silos
EB were the first in the UK to develop the production of silos in GRP (glass reinforced plastic) and have continued to lead the field ever since, developing unique processes to produce the only UK GRP silo, which are of one piece construction, totally seamless, totally watertight.
Continuing investment and research has resulted in one of the most advanced silo and tank production facilities across Europe.
Manufactured from EB’s blended polyester resin or optional vinyl esters, the silos have the following advantages:
- Polished smooth inner surface
- Robust exterior c/w UV protection
- Corrosion resistant
- Seamless construction
- Superior insulation properties compared with steel or aluminium
- Improved flow characteristics,
- Reduced maintenance
- No contamination
- No corrosion
Each vessel is manufactured to suit the customer’s individual requirements taking into consideration:
- Required chemical resistance
- Operating Temperatures
- Pressures: Internal up to 3 bar, External up to 1 bar,
- Atex rating
- Snow and wind loading,
- Local loading situations through attachment of discharge aids, filters, flanges, access platforms and associated equipment
- Variations for height and diameter, inlet and outlet style, size and location
Support structures are also an important consideration, varying from fully galvanised metal structures to integral GRP.
Other options include:
- Load cells, available with web based telemetry for remote stock control
- Improved insulation by the addition of polyurethane within the vessel wall
- External pigmentation for light sensitive products or to match existing buildings
Today a GRP silo or tank is not only an alternative but also the "first" choice in storage.
